On the 7th June 2017 our lives as a family changed forever. My dad Ian suffered a massive stroke and bleed on the brain at work in a meeting which left him fighting for his life in intensive care for 8 weeks. We were told he would have a 50% chance of death and a 50% chance of disability. Devastating news for us. Thankfully now 4 months later he is in St Richards Donald Wilson House Rehabilitation centre alive with his memory and speech on the mend. Unfortunately he will never be able to use the left side of his body again. Which means using an electric wheelchair and having to have his house adapted for hoists and wheelchair access which will cost in excess of £100,000 which will have to be funded by themselves. He will never be able to work again and will need 24/7 care. Shocking as he was a fit and healthy 54 year old with young children. He will never be able to kick a ball with his 6 year old twin sons Elijah and Bonn again. My dads partner Kirsty has been unwavering in her support, visiting Ian every single day and showing nothing but love. She is an inspiration and we are so lucky to have her in our lives. To create some hope and something to look forward to in these hard times they have decided to get married on the 28th October in 7 weeks time. Dad cannot sit up for long so it will just be a church service, no reception. I would love them to have a beautiful service and not worry about money for the outfits, flowers and rings etc so would love to raise some money to fund this for them - any extra to go towards the house adaptions. I love them both so much and am so proud of Kirstys strength - my Dad is so lucky to have her and we are all so grateful for everything she does.
