To buy and distribute reusable sanitary towel packs to girls in Uganda who are missing out on school because of their periods.
About the project
I'm heading to kampala in September to set up a Girls Empowerment project with Another Hope Children's Ministries. We will distribute bras and sanitary packs to ensure that our girls meet their full potential by staying safe (shockingly girls are at a higher risk of being raped if they are not wearing a bra) and that they receive a full education. 61% of girls miss out on a week of school every month simply because they have no access to sanitary towels.
We will spend time with each girl ensuring she gets a bra that fits correctly and we aim to inspire them to make a positive difference in their communities. We'll do this by counselling, teaching and mentoring, as well as creating projects that benefit the local community.
The bigger picture includes a much more sustainable future. The long term vision is to support women in generating their own income by selling our donated bras.
