by St Richard's Hospice in Worcestershire
Christmas is such a special time of year; a time for sharing happy moments with family and friends. A time for creating memories. For some of our patients this will be their last Christmas and so it’s even more important that they are able to spend time with their loved ones.
How you can help?
Will you help us raise £4,650 to pay for our Hospice at Home team to care for our patients and their loved ones this Christmas period, 24/7? We are initially aiming to cover Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day, but if all goes well we will extend our target to cover other days of the Christmas period.
Why help?
Over these three days, our specialist Hospice at Home team will be working to provide the best possible care to patients with life-threatening illnesses who need care and support to be able to stay at home. The care we provide will enable patients to enjoy Christmas with their loved ones, and relax in the knowledge that the specialist support they need is available.
For some of our patients, our care means they can spend time with loved ones during their last Christmas. For some, whose family can’t be with them, we offer companionship at a lonely time. For others, our care means that their loved ones can have a break from being a carer and simply spend time being a husband, wife, son or daughter. For all of our patients over Christmas, the care and support we offer means that they are able to make most of the time they have left together.
Our goal is to make each day in our patients’ lives a good day. Free of pain, in comfort and in peace. But we know that Christmas is an especially difficult and emotional time. We always make a huge effort to make the festive period as positive and happy as we can for our patients and their families. The relief, care and support our brilliant Hospice at Home team offers makes all this possible.
*** Care will be provided to all our patients in the community over Christmas, whether or not we successfully reach our fundraising target for this crowd funding campaign.
