So, I'm studying Scandinavian Civilisation at the University of Edinburgh. I'm writing an essay on the extent to which the Icelandic family sagas can be considered reliable historical documents. This one counts as 50% of my mark for the course, so it's a big one!
I'm trying to raise money so that I can visit Iceland myself in November, as doing so would give me a fantastic opportunity to learn more for myself about the lives of the subjects of the sagas, and the significance of their lives on contemporary Iceland, and in doing so give myself some top quality information to help me with my essay.
In Iceland, I hope to visit a few museums in the capital, Reykjavik, and also the Westfjords region, where the 'Saga of Gisli the Outlaw' takes place, and where today there are exhibitions on his life. £300 would be enough to cover all the travel and accommodation for the whole trip.
Thank you very much in advance!
