Hope 4 Barking and Dagenham was established in 2013 to provide shelter and support for the homeless people of Barking and Dagenham. Barking and Dagenham has the second highest level of homelessness in any london borough and the highest level of unemployment which places many people at risk of homelessness.
Since its inception there have been over 500 individuals eat, sleep and find support at the nightshelter and over a further 700 have recieved advice and support from our support services.
We have three members of staff a board of trustees and a team of fantastic volunteers and every evening come rain or shine we open our doors to 20 homeless individuals each evening and provide a hot meal, a warm and comfortable place to sleep and breakfast. On top of this we assist with benefit difficulties, work with individuals to gain employment and have facilitated over 200 people with permanant accommodation.
Homelessness does not only exist in the winter and therefore our aim is to provide the nightshelter and extend our support services to twelve months of the year. This is especially important as we are the only nightshelter and service of thhis kind in the borough.
The funds raised will assist in facilitating this extension of our work.
