My name is Chloe and I am 16 years old.
I have been selected by Northwest Girl Guiding Region to take part in a HIV & Cervical Cancer Screening and Empowerment Programme in Uganda in August 2016, tackling poverty not just where it hits the roof over your head or whether there is food in your stomach but where it robs a child of their self-esteem, their motivation to achieve and their ability to dream.
As a member of this team I hope to bring laughter, fun, encouragement and praise to hundreds of children whilst providing much needed aspiration to these often neglected and vulnerable kids.
The trip will also be an amazing experience for me and will teach me lots of new skills as well as being a big boost to my personal confidence. I know it will give me a different perspective on my life and will deepen my understanding on the challenges faced by girls of my age in developing countries.
To be able to go out to Uganda, I am required to raise £2,000 to cover my personal expenses, this includes the return flight to Uganda, insurance whilst out there, medical procedures before i.e Vaccinations and malaria tablets, transport and accomadation.
So far I have raised £900 I just need to raise the extra £1100 but this is getting harder and harder. I have already done sponsored events, cake stalls, raffles and tombolas. Now I would just like to ask for people to consider donating £1 or £2 and to share this with friends so that I can make the final push to get to Uganda and have the experience of a lifetime whilst helping those much less fortunate than myself.
