Helping the Homeless

Homelessness is a tragedy that has no place in modern Britain. We want to raise as much money as possible to feed and home as many as we can

Project aim

Homelessness is a tragedy that has no place in modern Britain. We want to raise as much money as possible to feed and home as many as we can.

About the project

In 2015 there were 27,640 applications for homeless made. In addition, there were 64,710 people placed in temporary accommodation, an 11% rise on the previous year. Whilst it is great that people have been placed in homes, and we want to continue raising money to do so, we want to pressure the government into putting more money into the causes of homelessness such as:

  • individual factors including lack of qualifications, lack of social support, debts - especially mortgage or rent arrears, poor physical and mental health, relationship breakdown, and getting involved in crime at an early age
  • family background including family breakdown and disputes, sexual and physical abuse in childhood or adolescence, having parents with drug or alcohol problems, and previous experience of family homelessness
  • an institutional background including having been in care, the armed forces, or in prison.

What can we do?

There is hope, and hope is what we want to bring to all those currently suffering without a temporary or permanent home. We can offer the following:

  • support to those that need it being without a permanent home structure offers emotional as well as physical challenges, consider the pyschological strain of being looked down upon by society and constantly worrying about where your next meal is coming from
  • the bare essentials food and shelter are what everyone needs, and we'll ensure that all money goes towards helping provide for those in need, you'd be surprised at how far a few pounds can go towards helping feed and clothe people in need
  • give hope we want to look to the future by helping to build up those that are homeless, many often come from surprisingly successful backgrounds and have simply fallen on hard times and we want to be able to help them to help themselves again

Every penny helps, so we'd like to thank you in advance for anything you can give to make a difference.
