Before the summer in 2015 some vandals broke into the adventure playground and tried to steal the zipline cable! They weren't successful but did manage to cause plenty of damage in the meantime. This, added to the age of the structure, has left us without use for over a year now.
The children LOVE the zipline, they ask about when it will be repaired all the time. It would make us all incredibly happy to give them a date but despite our best efforts we haven't been able to find the £4000 we have been quoted to make the repairs. As a result we've had to shut off the whole structure this season.
We firmly believe that all children should have access to the Playcentres and so we work very hard to keep prices low. Our income is spent directly on delivering services, leaving little for unexpected projects like this so we are appealing to you all to help us get there.
Marble Hill Playcentres has served our local community for over 40 years providing active play opportunities and support to thousands of children and their families. The adventure playground (with zip wire, big swings, fire pit) is the only one in our borough.
Local volunteer parents took over the running of the Playcentres when the council withdrew about 15 years ago and we have been a registered charity since 2005. We run on donations from trusts and local charities and grant funding organisations and charge a nominal amount on the gate for entry (and provide free access to children with additional needs and low income families).
