We have been at the Tudor Close in Ferring for 5 years now. We took a lease always wanting to buy the freehold. The building was in really bad condition , we have spend the last 5 years fixing things and making it overall nicer place to come and enjoy a meal or a drink with friends and family. We have refurbed both bathrooms but they still need some work, we bought new tables and chairs, 2 ovens, dishwasher, glasswasher, heating updates and loads more small bits all with our own money. We love the the building so much, we also love the village. Our son was born here and it is just home for us. He have spend all our money on fixing basic things that we were not able to save for the deposit. We need £200 000 for a deposit to buy the freehold. We have a mortgage aproved for the rest off the funds . But we have 2 weeks to come up with funds or we loose our home and pub. The pub is such a part off the village and it would be a shame to loose it as we dont know what would happen if we do not stay. The rent is so much we dont think anyone would want to pay it and be responsable for the building like the current owner wants. We fear it might be sold to who ever offers him the right price no matter who they are.
The Tudor is the most amazing thatched building.
The pub use to be a school for boys and during the second world war it was housing for French Canadian officer housing and after it was turned into a pub.
