I am a Conservation Science postgraduate student at Imperial College London.

For my thesis, I have decided to help a conservation program in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa to implement private protected areas on the private lands to save the wildlife.

KwaZulu-Natal has an abundance of fauna and flora diversity. However, only a small proportion of this diversity and only 53% of priority species receive protection within the existing protected area network. A further 1.4 million ha or 14.5% of the area of the province is required to be protected. Most of this area is being rapidly transformed or degraded at an alarming rate. We need the landholders' participation in this conservation initiative.

So, I will do a social survey to consider their attitudes toward the program and map their different social dimensions to understand which places in the critical biodiversity areas have the high social capacity to join the program.
