My friend Vera has been through a very negative life changing period over the past 10 months. She suddenly experienced dizziness, strange coughing and pain in her legs and was diagnosed with problems in her spine. She underwent 4 complex spinal surgeries required to prevent potential paralysis in her legs, but was paralysed during the second surgery. Vera worked very hard, despite the acute pain, and amazed the medical profession when she started walking with crutches, only 3 months after the final operation. However, she was told that she would never be pain-free or walk unaided again.
Vera spent 7 months in hospitals, away from her very close knit family and is still suffering from chronic neuropathic pain that has now spread all over her body and is most keenly felt at night, despite taking a number of extremely strong painkillers (including morphine). Vera's husband, Terry and I would like to buy a medically approved adjustable bed that will provide some relief for her pain and allow her to sleep for longer at night.
By donating through this page we are hoping to raise the funds that will buy this bed and other medical equipment which can improve her life (such as gym equipment, mobility and living aids, grab rails, ramps and so on) or even respite holidays. Terry and I would be eternally grateful to you if you can help us achieve this aim. Thank you very much for any support you can offer.
