Project aim

To raise the travel costs needed to send 8 teenagers to Bucharest in Romania to volunteer at a children's hospital.

About the project

For a number of years, young people and teachers from St John’s Academy have been travelling to Bucharest to volunteer in the Marie Curie Hospital.  The hospital has long associations with the community of St.Johns through Mercy Sisters who were based in Dundee which is being continued through Sr Aloysius' legacy in particular. Sr Aloysius was a nun based in Kinross who after many trips to Romania, helped set up and run the Voluntar in Spital project which serves  the hospital by providing care for sick abandoned children. They run soley as not for profit organisation and heavily rely on the kindess of donations and volunteers to help them care for these children and provide medical support. Every year a group of 6th years travel to Bucharest to volunteer at the hospital bringing smiles to childrens faces by organising activites for the children and even visiting nearby schools to see how different life is for those less fortunate. We fundraise throughout the school year to be able to afford to do projects out there and bring supplies to the hospital but we still need help to pay for travel and accomodation. We really appreciate your donations to be able to make a difference to these children's lives.

We are accepting pledges for our sponsored run. One of our team members, Harris Blain, and our close friend ,Niall Martin, are running 20km each and we are looking for people to sponsor them, so please donate whether it's a little or alot.
