2016 is a crucial year for the future of Northern Ireland politics, and for the Green Party.
On May 5th, voters will go to the polls to elect members to the NI Assembly. The Green Party currently has 1 MLA, Steven Agnew, and it is vital that he is re-elected to keep a strong Green voice in the Assembly.
As the sole Green representative, Steven has already acheived so much, including:
- introducing the Children's Services and Co-operation Bill, one of only five pieces of Private Member's legislation ever passed in the history of the NI Assembly, which places a statutotry duty on all Departments to co-operate on the provision of children's services, reducing waste and improving the lives of all children
- proposing the first motion on equal marriage to the NI Assembly and consistently voting in favour of LGBT rights
- exposing the largest illegal waste dump in Europe and the largest unauthorised quarry in the UK
- fighting welfare cuts, standing up for the poor, sick and disabled, and exposing those who claimed that nobody would be worse off
In order to continue the fight for equality, a fairer economy and a healthier environment in NI, we need to get Steven re-elected. Please help us to make this happen.
