I have been accepted to study the MA in Global Crime and Justice at the University of York in September 2016. I have graduated from Royal Holloway University in 2015 with a 2:1 BSc in Criminology with Sociology. Ever since I was little I have wanted to work in Child Protection and believe this course will be the perect final stage of my education before working for a major NGO. Unfortunately funding has not been easy as I need around £16,000 to cover tuition fees, accommodation and living expenses yet the government are only giving £10,000. I have tried to apply for every loan and grant available but there doesn't seem to be any help available for Social Policy degrees. During my undergraduate studies I excelled at the Terrorism modules as well Children at Risk in Society and completed my dissertation on "The Role of Cultural Values when Discussing Rape Myths in India: A Sociological Analysis". I volunteer regularly with Action for Children, Save the Children and UNICEF and I'm currently working part time at my local council in Childrens Services - Special Educational Needs department as well as being a Maths and English Tutor at Explore Learning. I give everything I can to my studies while also trying to make the most of my experience. I founded the Criminology, Sociology,Psychology and Law Society at university while also being a community volunteer and Residential Support Assistant. I have always had atleast 2 jobs since I was 16 and I know I can make a difference in Social Policy regarding child exploitation and violence against women. I would appreciate any help possible as if I don't reach my target I may have to give up my place on the course.
