Charity Centre for Children and Youth Development (CCCYD) in Zambia is a Nonprofit organization registered and approved as public benefit organization by Government of the Republic of Zambia.
The people of Solwezi community live in a vicious cycle of poverty. Majority of them live on less than a dollar a day, this translates to living below the poverty line according to the United Nations and the world community standards. Many school drop outs, orphans and vulnerable children do not have access to equipped facilities for training in valuable trade skills. There is a high demand for the provision of practical and tertiary training services that enable them to be gainfully employed. The vocational skills training centre offers both formal education and informal education. The formal education will consist of basic primary school education following the government educational curriculum while the informal education will entail training in dressmaking/tailoring and entrepreneurial skills, carpentry and joinery, welding and fabrication, computer, masonry and welding. The basic primary formal education prepares the children to join secondary education then university. The project contributes to youth and children 's development in skills for self-reliance and entrepreneurship. It creates employment opportunities for disadvantaged youths and young adults - helping them to move from poverty and unemployment to self-sufficiency. This effective intervention continues to provide the essential skills that school drop outs and unemployed youths need in their quest towards financial independence.
