Please help me to actualise my academic goals, so that I can in turn, give back to society, and contribute the wealth of knowledge I will have gained, in a more meaningful and purposeful way.
What if I don’t succeed? Well, I have never allowed my fear of failure to stop me. My philosophy has always been, and will always be, I will never know unless I give it my best shot.
In fact, for me personally, some of my failures have been my biggest sources of inspiration. I realised that by embracing what I had learned from the process, helped me to grow as a person and to never fear the unknown.
Who I am and Why I am Doing This Campaign?
My name is Stanley Akudinobi. For my first degree, I studied in Information Management Technology and my dissertation was on “The impact of Information Technology on Global Capital Markets”. The study considered various capital markets (with reference to the equity markets) from developed and emerging economies. The following markets were considered from the developing economies:
While in the developed economies, the following markets were also considered:
Industry professionals were also very helpful to me in the course of the research by treating the issues raised in the instrument of the study. One of the findings of the study revealed that, adding investment instruments such as derivatives like future and options trading, will boost value and volume traded in the emerging markets.
Recently I was offered a place to study a MSc in Digital Marketing and Analytics, at the Regent’s Business School London.
When I heard that I had been offered a place on the course, I was elated. The course is perfect and will offer me further training in conducting business research and will also enable me to consolidate my digital marketing skills.
However, the sad reality is, I may not be able to take up my place due to the cost of the tuition fees.
Even with all of my best efforts, I have been unable to get a scholarship and unsuccessful in obtaining a loan of any kind, because I was unable to find someone who could stand as a guarantor.
In the midst of my disappointment at not having raised the tuition fees, I was given hope by a family living in Kent. They had come to learn of my plans to study here in London, and although they were not in a position to donate towards my course costs, they said they would like to help me.
Although I have never met them before in my life, I have been lucky enough to find a family who will accommodate me for the duration of my studies, as well as take care of my day to day living expenses, such as food and utilities.
In addition, I have been blessed by the donations from a travel magazine. They too had learned of my plans to study and they have donated the cost of my flight, to the UK.
This generosity and warmth has been the light at the end of my tunnel, and has encouraged me to continue with my plans to study in the UK, knowing that there are so many good people in the World. Moreover, it has inspired me to want to help others even more, and when I am able to, I should like to extend the same opportunity to someone else who is in a similar situation to myself.
This incredibly kind gesture has meant that I no longer have to find extra money for accommodation and food costs, but as it stands, I am still left to raise the sum of £22,362 to be able to continue with my studies.
I am here to ask for your support in helping me to find the tuition fees for this critical chapter of my education. You can help me to achieve my goal by, either making a donation yourself (I would be so very grateful, evenif you were able to donate a very, very small amount), or by sharing the link to people that you may know who might be interested in this worthwhile project.
Other Possible Ways You Can Help Me Succeed, Could Include:
Plegde: In order to make pledges, please kindly go through the rewards at the right hand side and choose the option that suits you best. THANK YOU SO MUCH – I WILL BE MORE GRATEFUL THAN YOU COULD EVER IMAGINE
Social Media:You can help me by spreading the word out there on Facebook,,Twitter,Linkedin,e-mail,telephone, blogs and articles etc. In fact, any medium of communication, I would be truly grateful for.
Press Release:I will be grateful if anybody would assist by publishing the project in any local, national or digital newsletter for the purpose of press release.
Companies: If you know of any organisation or charities including investment houses (since I’ve got capital market experience from the above mentioned study),that might be interested in sponsoring me. I would be more than happy to work with them throughout the duration of my study programme. Kindly let me know or share the link with them. You can also assist by placing the link on your website.
Bank Loan: I have tried to secure a loan from several private funding firms, but without any success. This was because I did not pass the minimum credit check and was unable to provide a UK guarantor. Please, please, if anyone might know of anywhere that I might be able to secure a loan, please contact me. I am more than willing to pay every penny back once I have finished my studies and I am in employment. I just need to be given an opportunity to prove my integrity and honour.
Where Will The Money Go?
All money raised will go directly to the University and Transportation Fares as shown in the table below.Any donations raised in excess will be used for books and other study materials, and a secondhand computer.
Giving Back To The Society
I have always engaged myself into community development by promoting and implementing the goals of the MDGs.
Upon graduation and securing employment, I intend to give back to society by promoting the Eight Goals of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) which are:
- To eradicate extreme poverty and hunger.
- To achieve universal primary education.
- To promote gender equality and empower women.
- To reduce child mortality.
- To improve maternal health.
- To combat HIV/AIDS, malaria, and other diseases.
- To ensure environmental sustainability.
- To develop a global partnership for development
Whatever you are able to afford I will be eternally grateful. Even if it is £1 – I want you to know that you are helping to make a difference to the project and to say THANK YOU, I have some great rewards. Please check them out – they’re to your right.
