 MANY CATS HAVE BEEN ABANDONED AND LEFT TO FEND FOR THEMSELVES ON THE STREETS NEAR ME, AS IS THE ISSUE IN MOST AREAS THESE DAYS.

I HAVE A LARGE ENCLOSED GARDEN WHICH I HAVE PROVIDED SHELTERS FOR ANY STRAYS THAT COME MY WAY. I KEEP THE SHELTERS WATERPROOF AND AS WARM AS I CAN, CLEANING THEM OUT REGULARLY AND CHANGING THE BEDDING WHEN NEEDED TO KEEP IT NICE AND CLEAN FOR THE STRAYS. I OBVIOUSLY CANNOT JUST WASH THE BEDDING SO IM CONSTANTLY BUYING NEW FLEECES FOR THEM AND KNITTING NICE WARM BLANKETS.

I CURRENTLY HAVE 5 REGULAR STRAYS THAT VISIT MOST DAYS ALONG WITH MY OWN 8 RESCUE CATS. THE RESCUE CATS I HAVE ALL HAVE HEALTH ISSUES DUE TO BEING STRAYS AT SOME TIME OF THEIR LIFE. THE REGULAR STRAYS THAT VISIT COME TO ME FOR REGULAR FEEDING AND AFFECTION IF THEY ALLOW ME TO GIVE IT TO THEM, I ALSO GIVE THEM TREATS AND TOYS TO SHOW SOMEONE CARES.

OBVIOUSLY THIS MAKES FOR A BIG CAT FOOD AND VET BILL. AT THE MOMENT THE VET BILL ALONE IS £300. I TEND TO SPEND £40 UP A WEEK ON CAT FOOD AND LITTER.

IF ANYONE COULD HELP ME TO CARRY ON HELPING THEM I WOULD BE ETERNALLY GRATEFUL. I UNDERSTAND THAT MONEY IS TIGHT FOR EVERYONE BUT TO SEE SOME OF THESE POOR STRAYS LEFT TO FEND FOR THEMSELVES I JUST CANNOT IGNORE THEM. I WOULD SOONER BE SKINT THAN SEE THEM GO HUNGRY.

I ALSO TRY TO CATCH AND NEUTER AS MANY AS I CAN TO KEEP THE STRAYS UNDER CONTROL AND ALSO FOR THEIR OWN HEALTH AS A NEUTERED/SPAYED CAT IS A MUCH HEALTHIER CAT AND DONT GET IN AS MANY FIGHTS.

MY RESCUE CATS IN MY CARE CURRENTLY ARE;

SOCKS - RESCUED FROM A CAT RESCUE AFTER BEING REHOMED AND RETURNED 6 TIMES DUE TO HIS LOOSE BOWELS, WE TOOK THE TIME TO LOOK AT THIS ISSUE AND SEE WHAT COULD BE DONE TO HELP HIM. HES NOT PERFECT STILL BUT IS MUCH BETTER THAN HE WAS AND HARDLY EVER HAS ACCIDENTS ANYMORE, INDEED HE NEEDS HIS OWN LITTER TRAY WHICH IS CONSTANTLY CHANGED AND CLEANED TO KEEP HIS ISSUE UNDER CONTROL AND A LIGHT DIET BUT HES NOW IN A LOVING HOME AND REPAYS US WITH LOTS OF TUMMY RUMBLES. HE ALSO NEEDS REGULAR MEDICATION AND VETS VISITS DUE TO HIS ARTHRITUS.

TUVOK - A STRAY FROM OUR GARDEN, WE TRIED TO NO AVAIL TO FIND HIS OWNERS SO BROUGHT HIM INDOORS TO JOIN OUR FAMILY, HE WAS VERY UNDERWEIGHT WHEN WE TOOK HIM IN NOW HES BUILT LIKE A HORSE - HES NOT THAT GOOD WITH OTHER CATS APART FROM THE ODD COUPLE SO HE IS QUITE HARD WORK, HES VERY STRONG TOO SO CAN GET CARRIED AWAY WITH PLAYTIME WHICH IS WHY WE NEED TO KEEP A STRONG EYE ON HIM TO ENSURE HE DOESNT HURT THE OTHERS.

BELLA - A VERY FEISTY HIGHLY STRUNG CAT WHO DOESNT GET ON WITH OTHER CATS AT ALL (APART FROM TUVOK FOR SOME REASON) - SHE WAS VERY NERVOUS AND WOULD HISS AT ANYONE WHO CAME NEAR WHEN WE FIRST GOT HER, NOW WE HAVE HER GIVING US CUDDLES AND BEING A VERY FRIENDLY CAT (ON HER TERMS). SHE JUST NEEDED THE TIME TO FEEL COMFORTABLE AND BEING REHOMED A FEW TIMES MADE HER FEEL INSECURE.

TONY - RESCUED FROM A CAT RESCUE AFTER BEING DUMPED IN A CARDBOARD BOX ON THE DOORSTEP. HE WAS VERY VERY SCARED AND HISSY AND VERY UNDERWEIGHT. AFTER A WHILE AT THE RESCUE WHEN HE RECOVERED FROM A BOUT OF CAT FLU HE WAS THE MOST LOVING CAT TO ME WHEN I VISITED SO I HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO BRING HIM HOME - HED WORKED HIS MAGIC ON ME. ONCE HOME HE TRANSFERRED HIS LOVE TO MY HUSBAND AND BECAME HIS BEST FRIEND, FOLLOWING HIM EVERYWHERE. OVER TIME WE NOTICED HE HAD SEVERE RHINITUS WHICH WILLVE BEEN THE REASON HE WAS DUMPED, INDEED HE DOES SNEEZE A LOT BUT ITS NOT A BIG ISSUE, WE JUST HAD LOTS OF DISENFECTANT TO HAND AND WIPES. HE IS ALSO A VERY TIMID SCARED CAT WHO GETS SCARED OF LOTS OF THINGS WHICH MAKES HIM PANIC AND HAVE BREATHING ATTACKS, SO HE NEEDS LOTS OF REASSURANCE AND LOTS OF PATIENCE. THE POOR LOVE GETS LOTS OF FACIAL SORES TOO FOR WHICH HE NEEDS VETS VISITS FOR, THEY BECOME VERY SORE FOR HIM BUT WE MANAGE USUALLY TO KEEP THEM UNDER CONTROL. HE ALSO REPAYS US BY GIVING MY HUSBAND LOTS OF WET NOSE KISSES.

MISHA - SHE WAS GIVEN TO MY DAUGHTER ON THE BUS AFTER MY BUS COOED OVER HER. THE COUPLE WITH HER SHOVED HER INTO MY DAUGHTERS ARMS AND SAID THEY WERE JUST ON THEIR WAY TO DUMP HER IN THE RESERVOIR. LUCKILY MY DAUGHTER WAS NEAR THE LOCAL VETS AND RAN IN THERE WITH HER. WE AGREED TO FOSTER HER INCASE SHE TURNED OUT TO BE STOLEN BUT FOUND SHE WAS CHIPPED TO THE PEOPLE WHOD ABANDONED HER. SHE IS A LOVING ADDITION TO OUR CAT FAMILY BUT IS SO TINY, IN THE MONTHS WE HAVE HAD HER SHE HASNT GROWN AN INCH BUT IS VERY HEALTHY. SHE IS ALSO VERY LOVING AND LOVES BEING WITH TONY.

GIMLI - RESCUED FROM CAT RESCUE AFTER HE WAS TAKEN IN BY THEM AFTER BEING A STRAY FOR OVER TEN YEARS IN AN OAP HOME, SADLY THE HOME WAS SHUTTING AND THEY COULDNT TAKE HIM WITH THEM. HES A GRUMPY OLD MAN BUT IS VERY VERY LOVING, ESPECIALLY TO ME WHO HE FOLLOWS EVERYWHERE AND SULKS IF I GO OUT. HES BATTERED AND HAS LOTS OF SCARS AND WOUNDS THROUGH BEING OUTSIDE SUCH A LOT OF YEARS.

ELVIS - ELVIS WAS A GRUMPY OLD STRAY WHO VISITED  OUR GARDEN. WE HAD TO TAKE A LOT OF TIME AND PATIENCE WITH HIM TO GET TO TRUST US AND TO ALLOW US TO HELP HIM. WHEN WE EVENTUALLY MANAGED TO GET TO TREAT HIM HE WAS FULL OF CAT FLU AND REALLY POORLY, INDEED WE WERENT SURE HOW LONG HE WOULD LAST. WEVE HAD HIM A GOOD FEW YEARS NOW AND HE GETS GRUMPIER BY THE YEAR, YOU HAVE TO STAY ON YOUR GUARD WITH HIM BUT THATS BECAUSE HES SHORT SIGHTED AND DEAF SO OBVIOUSLY HES WARY OF THINGS. ONLY MY DAUGHTER CAN HOLD HIM AND GIVE HIM LOTS OF CUDDLES BUT HES GRADUALLY ALLOWED US TO STROKE HIM WHICH IS A STEP UP. HE HAS A FEW HEALTH PROBLEMS BUT WITH THE RIGHT CARE AND VET VISITS WHEN NEEDED HES HAPPY SO LONG AS HE CAN SPEND HIS DAYS EATING AND SLEEPING.

COLE - COLE JUST APPEARED IN OUR GARDEN ONE DAY AS WAS IMMEDIATELY VERY LOVING, JUST WANTING TO BE LOVED ALL THE TIME. WE NOTICED HE HAD A VERY LARGE HOLE IN HIS TUMMY SO TRIED TO FIND HIS OWNERS, DOING A PAPER COLLAR AND DOOR KNOCK AND FACEBOOK APPEALS, ETC, ALL TO NO AVAIL. AS TIME WAS AN ISSUE WITH HIS TUMMY WE TOOK HIM TO THE VETS WHEN NO OWNERS WERE FORTHCOMING WHERE HE WAS TREATED. WITH STILL NO OWNERS COMING FORWARD HE HAS MOVED INTO OUR HOUSE AND IS A LOVELY CUDDLY TEDDY BEAR. HE LOVES PLAYING OUT IN OUR BIG GARDEN BUT ALSO COMES BACK INDOORS CONSTANTLY TO CHECK WE ARE STILL HERE, HE NEEDS LOTS OF CUDDLES AND REASSURANCE.

we have also named our strays in the garden, which are;

BOJANGLES - HES BEEN VISITING FOR A FEW YEARS NOW, AT FIRST HE WAS VERY BEDRAGGLED AND UNDERWEIGHT AND NERVOUS. ITS TOOK US TIME TO GET HIS TRUST BUT WE ARE GETTING THERE. WITH NO OWNERS FORTHCOMING WE DID TRY TO GET HIM INDOORS TO TAKE HIM TO THE VETS TO GET NEUTERED BUT TO NO AVAIL, HE WAS TOO NERVOUS. HE VISITS MOST DAYS AND SOMETIMES UP TO THREE TIMES A DAY.

RUPERT - HE WAS ABANDONED WHEN A NEIGHBOUR OPPOSITE MOVED OUT WITH NO FORWARDING ADDRESS. HE BECAME SEMI FERAL AND DOESNT LET YOU TOO NEAR TO HIM BUT HES COMFY WITH YOU GOING NEAR TO FEED HIM AND IF HES IN A GOOD MOOD YOU MAY GET A QUICK HEAD STROKE. HE WAS UNNEUTERED AND WAS GETTING INTO LOTS OF FIGHTS BECAUSE OF IT SO, WITH A LOT OF PATIENCE AND QUICK ACTION WE MANAGED TO GET HIM INSIDE AND TO THE VETS TO BE NEUTERED, WHICH HAS INDEED CALMED HIM DOWN AND WITH MORE TIME AND PATIENCE HE IS BECOMING A LITTLE BIT MORE FRIENDLY. HE COMES A FEW TIMES A DAY FOR FEEDS AND LOVES FRESH CHICKEN BUT HES NO GOOD WITH OTHER CATS, BUT TENDS TO NOW WALK AWAY RATHER THAN FIGHT THEM. HE LOVES HIS SHED IN OUR GARDEN.

KITKAT - ANOTHER BATTLE SCARRED UNNEUTERED ABANDONED TOMCAT. SEMI FERAL AND VERY FEISTY, HISSING AT ANYONE AND OTHER CATS. WITH PATIENCE AND CARE AND QUICK HANDLING WE MANAGED TO GET HIM TO THE VETS AND NEUTERED AND HES BEGINNING TO QUIET DOWN NOW. HE HAS HIS OWN LITTLE DOG KENNEL NEXT TO THE HOUSE WHICH YOU CAN FIND HIM IN SLEEPING MOST OF THE TIME IF NOT WANDERING ROUND THE FIELDS AT THE BACK OF OUR HOUSE. TIME WILL TELL BUT ONE DAY WE MAY GET HIM TO COME INDOORS TOO AND BE PART OF OUR FAMILY.

ALICE COOPER - ANOTHER OLD BATTLE SCARRED SEMI FERAL TOMCAT. CANT GET NEAR ENOUGH TO SEE IF UNNEUTERED AS OF YET BUT ITS LOOKING LIKE IT, TIME AND PATIENCE WILL TELL IF WE CAN GET NEAR. NO IMMEDIATE TO THE EYE HEALTH ISSUES BUT AM KEEPING A CLOSE EYE ON. SEEMS VERY TIMID AND NERVOUS.

AL - APPEARS OUT OF NOWHERE AND THEN DISAPPEARS FOR WEEKS AT A TIME. OBVIOUSLY A STRAY WHEN YOU LOOK AT HIM BUT SEEMS IN GOOD HEALTH. ONLY LETS MY HUSBAND NEAR HIM BUT STILL NOT TRUSTY ENOUGH TO COME INDOORS. AGAIN, TIME WILL TELL IF WE CAN DO MORE TO HELP HIM.

I ALSO GET THE ODD PASSING BY VISITORS THAT NICK THE STRAYS FOOD BUT THERE IS NO WAY OF STOPPING THAT - WE LIVE IN A HIGH CAT NEIGHBOURHOOD.

ALL OUR STRAY CATS DO GET CHECKED FOR CHIPS AND PAPER COLLARED TO TRY FIND THEIR OWNERS, WE ALSO USE FACEBOOK AND WORD OF MOUTH TO TRY FIND OWNERS BUT AS OF YET THE REGULARS DONT HAVE ANY OWNERS THAT HAVE COME FORWARD. THERE ARE USUALLY SIGNS THAT SHOW A CAT IS OWNED SO IN MOST CASES WE DO KNOW WHICH IS WHICH. WE COULD NEVER IGNORE A NEEDY CAT AND LOOK OUT FOR ANY SIGNS OF DETERIATION IN OUR VISITORS, BEING PREPARED TO STEP IN WHEN NEEDED AND GET THEM TO A VET.

ANY HELP I RECEIVE WILL BE GREATLY HELPFUL AND VERY VERY MUCH APPRECIATED. THANK YOU SO MUCH.

AN UPDATE TO SAY WE HAVE MANAGED TO GET ALICE COOPER INDOORS AND TO THE VETS - HE NEEDS A LOT OF DENTAL WORK DOING AND NEUTERING ONCE HES FATTENED UP. HE IS BACK HOME WITH US ALL SNUG IN THE DOWNSTAIRS CUB ROOM TRYING TO GET THE INFLAMATION IN HIS GUMS SORTED AND FATTENED UP THEN HE CAN HAVE HIS SURGERY. HE SEEMS NICE AND CONTENT IN THERE AND SO HAPPY TO BE INDOORS BY THE LOOKS OF HIM. HE COULD ALSO DO WITH A BATH AS HE IS VERY MUCKY BUT OBVIOUSLY WE CANNOT DO THAT UNTIL HES BETTER. THANKS FOR EVERYONES SUPPORT.

HERE IS A PIC OF ALICE COOPER, YOU CAN JUST MAKE OUT HOW SKINNY HE IS AND HOW MUCKY.
