We are raising funds to help pay for the campaign to elect Kevin Warnes as the new Green Party MP for Shipley in May 2015 (Kevin is pictured above with Green Party Leader Natalie Bennett during her very successful visit to Bradford, Shipley and Ilkley in October).
Kevin has represented Shipley for the Green Party on Bradford Council since 2004. He has been active in green politics since the late 1980s and also currently chairs Bradford District Green Party. He is determined to play his part in building a more sustainable and socially just society.
As a local councillor, he works hard for residents and makes sure their concerns are heard in City Hall. Together with fellow Green councillors Martin Love and Hawarun Hussain, he has persuaded Bradford Council to invest millions in energy efficiency measures and renewable energy technologies. These investments are cutting the district's carbon footprint and capping the Council's energy bills, saving money for local taxpayers and building a more sustainable future for us all.
The Green councillors have also spearheaded successful local campaigns for quieter, safer residential streets, better recycling and new community play areas, supported local shops and blocked unwanted supermarket planning applications. And, of course, they have handled thousands of everyday concerns during their time in office.
Now, Kevin is running for parliament in the May 2015 general election and he needs YOUR help to fund the Green Party's ambitious campaign in Shipley.
He needs £500 to cover the cost of the deposit to stand as a parliamentary candidate. He needs another £800 to pay for a freepost leaflet that will go out to 35,000 homes across Shipley. An extra £200 will cover the cost of the posters and other materials that he needs to get his campaign off the ground in the New Year!
Please give what you can. Give Kevin a fighting chance to get the Green message out across Shipley!
Thank you on behalf of Bradford District Green Party - the most progressive force in Bradford politics.
Finally, please ensure that you are on the electoral register as this is a requirement for all individual donations to UK political parties. If your company would like to donate, you are most welcome to do so as long as you are UK-registered.
