Charlie is my 6 year old Lab, he's the greatest dog anyone could ever wish for. In short, he saved my life...
In 2013 I lost my father after a short but valiant battle with cancer. I was inconsolable, I began to stay home more and more and the thought of facing the outside world was getting less and less appealing. I was isolating myself from the world and my friends, afraid to form any personal or emotional bond in case I had to go through the torment of loss again.
That at was until a good friend of mine turned up at my door with Charlie. He had been raised as a working dog on a shooting estate, but it turned out he had neither the temperament orthe enthusiasm for hunting, he needed someone to look after him until a home could be found for him.
Although I didn't really want a dog at the time, I wanted to make sure he was well looked after till a proper home could be found for him.
And thus started a companionship that turned my life around, knowing that Charlie needed his exercise forced me to get out of the house, I began to socialise again, always taking my emotional crutch Charlie with me. He never leaves my side and has brought me back into the world, I even met my fiancée out walking charlie.
Now it's Charlie who needs my help, he has developed a cataracts in both eyes, my insurance company refuses to pay out claiming that it was an existing medical complaint and I new need to raise £3000 for the first of his operations to rectify his eyesight.
Any by help would be much appreciated.
