England Karate international Aimee Sell has been selected to represent England at the next Junior European Karate Championships in Cyprus in February 2016, her final Junior Championships, concluding 6 year continuous spell as one one of England's top juniors. This will be the last Junior European competition she can do before she turns 21 years old.
Being a fully self-funded athlete it is not always easy, training, competing and even representing England has always been a financial burden on Aimee and her parents supporting her sporting ambitions. After funding these ambitions as she moves into the senior role as England's representative, she now needs your help.
Aimee has been representing England from the age of 14 and is one of England's most decorated kata athletes.
Some of her top achievements include:
- Junior European Team Kata Bronze medallist 2010.
- Junior European Individual Silver medallist 2011.
- Junior European Individual Silver medallist 2013.
- Junior European Team Kata Silver medallist 2013.
- Junior World Individual Bronze medallist 2013.
- Junior European Bronze medallist 2015.
- 11x English National Champion.
- 8 x British National Champion.
A message from Aimee...
"I've been practicing karate from the age of 6 and fell in love with the sport. I specialise in the kata discipline, this is because when I was 8 years old I had a dramatic accident to my right eye. I had to have 6 operations which left me with a false lens and at best 75% vision. I was devastated and told by the doctors I would never be able to do karate again. Following this I discovered I had a talent for kata, then started training with my idol, the National kata coach Jonathan Mottram, who coached me through numerous European and World Championships and I became one of England's most successful female kata competitors to which I am truly grateful.
It is such an amazing opportunity to be able to represent my country, but unfortunately can be very expensive. I will be turning 21 next year and this is the last Junior Competition I am eligible to compete at and I would appreciate any help to assist my fares to Cyprus. I have been training for 13 years to become a European Champion and hopefully you can help me achieve my dream!"
Any donations to help Aimee fight for her dream would be greatly appreciated by Aimee, her family and all her supporters. Please help support a dream.
