Project aim

An interactive performance project exploring the collective romantic history of Liverpool, presented in October as part of On The Verge 2015

About the project

HeartBrokers is an interactive performance project from AR-TEA Collective that will be taking place as part of On The Verge Festival 2015, running from 21st - 25th October.

The project will be exploring attitudes towards the collection of objects, which through attachment of memory and story, become the documentation of our human and emotional experiences. We will be focusing specifically on gathering stories and objects to document the collective romantic history of Liverpool, and therefore hope to work with a spectrum of community groups across the city.

After a period of research and collection with community groups, we will devise an interactive performance piece where audience members will be bidding for the objects we have collected in a fast-paced auction. We will present several pop-up events in the lead up to the festival with the main auction happening on the evening of Saturday 24th October.

Successful funding of this project will allow us to ensure our outreach workshops are as diverse and wide-reaching as possible, enabling the show to truely represent the collective romantic past of the beautiful city of Liverpool. It will allow us to source alternative objects in the inevitable case of participants sharing their stories but being unwilling to part with their precious objects, and make sure that we can properly pay all of our collaborators.
