Due to recent devastating press stories I am fundraising for two charities, 50% will go to Migrant Offshore Aid Station and 50% to Gloucestershire Action for Refugees and Asylum Seekers (GARAS).
About the project
This is a tough challenge for me and getting pretty nervous as I enter my first half marathon! I've done other challenges in the past for Alzheimers, and recently for Longfields a colour run. This weekend I am doing a zumbathon for Mental Health. It wasn't too difficult to pick which charity to donate fees raised for - the recent stories and tragedies are so moving, and taking away any political views, these are two humanitarian projects which I found most suitable.
Migrant Offshore Aid Station is a registered foundation (VO/0939) (http://www.moas.eu/) dedicated to preventing loss of life at sea by providing assistance to migrants who find themselves in distress while crossing the Mediterranean Sea in unsafe vessels.
GARAS is a local charity (Charity Number 1082388) that provides support to migrants. (http://www.garas.org.uk/)
If you wish to donate directly to these charities, please message me with your donation amount, and the links are below:
