Right now, homeless people need our help more than ever. Temperatures are plummeting and many homeless have no choice but to sleep rough on the streets of London due to lack of accomodation. Today I passed four homeless people today in the -3C weather with no gloves, and two with no hat. One lady I was talking to was shivering and her lips had a blue tinge. For the above reasons, instead of wondering how could we help them I think this is the best way forward to be proactive.
Please feel free to donate money to help contribute towards bulk buying; Scarves, gloves, hats and sleeping bags. If you would prefer, I am happy to accept donations of scarves, hats and gloves (either new or second hand and washed). Message me for details at firstname.lastname@example.org
According to gov.co.uk, in August of last year the total number of rough sleepers in London was estimated at 3,569 in London. This figure is likely to be even higher now according to trends. There are 265 rough sleepers in Westminster, for example. According to Crisis, homeless people die at 47 years old, 30 years before the national average of 77. Homeless women die at 43 years old. Factors such as pneumonia and hypothermia can reduce life expectancy dramatically.
Please help me reach my goal, so I can supply the 265 rough sleepers in Westminster with warm garments to last them through the winter.
