We’re a local youth charity based on the customs and traditions of the Royal Navy and we're located in an ideal spot on Hartlepool Marina. This gives us easy access to the water for our waterborne activities; but also provides a nice open south facing roof space with no shading, perfect for solar panels.
We currently have 39 cadets between 10 to 18 years old who benefit from the activities which we offer. These activities range from all kinds of boating on the water to various land based activities such as camping, first aid and music. The list of activities we offer really does go on and on.
Being a charity and relying mainly on donations to continue to operate leaves us with a really big challenge every year - to raise enough money to keep the charity up and running. We have been doing this successfully in Hartlepool since 1938 and we'd like to continue for many more years to come. With this in mind we are hoping to reduce our outgoings (and also our carbon footprint) by installing solar panels to the unit building.
Thousands of young people have passed through our doors over the years, the vast majority of these being from disadvantaged backgrounds. We will invest all of our savings from the scheme right back into the young people we work with in the form of equipment, and funding fantastic opportunities for those who would otherwise not be able to afford them.
Help us to continue our good work and support our appeal today!
