Project aim

Our aim is to raise funds for our campaign to elect John Ross as an SNP councillor in Ward 19 South Lanarkshire Council.

Raised in Clydebank, I served an engineering apprenticeship in John Brown’s Shipyard before moving to Hamilton in 1971 with my wife, Irene where we raised our children, Heather & Iain. I have lived in the Hamilton South ward for the last 37yrs and know the ward well having run a successful newsagents at Cadzow Bridge and another in Silvertonhill for 14yrs.

I have recently retired but enjoyed many life experiences and careers in Engineering and Sales. My previous experience as SNP Group Leader and District Councillor for the “Bent” ward on the District Council adds to my strengths as I used my position to effect changes in many areas, with much success.

My constituents trusted me to always put their interests first - so much so that I was re-elected 3yrs later taking more than 50% of the vote.

Hamilton South is presently a 4 member ward, the other 3 members being Labour Councillors.  Elect me as that fourth membeqr and I will promise to ensure your concerns are heard and your best interests pursued.

With Labour cuts of £17m announced for this year and a further £36m in the pipeline for next year, it is vital that Hamilton South has an SNP voice on the Council.
