On 28th May I will be running the Edinburgh Half Marathon (God help me!) for the SMSYG (St Margaret for Scotland Youth Group) in memory of my Lourdes Maw Sandra Kennedy!
Every year the youth group go to Lourdes with the Glasgow Archdiocese. We help out and look after those on the pilgrimage and enable them to get about safely and (more often than not) be well entertained!
I have been part of this group for the best past of the past 10 years and it has completely changed my life. I have made friends from both the group and the pilgrims and have been forever touched by the stories and struggles people face with a smile. SMSYG also take families along with us each year that are in need of a well deserved break. However we can only do this if we raise enough money to enable the youth group and the families to get to Lourdes! Each year this takes around £90,000! So we all need to raise as much as we can!
In addition, last year we lost our crazy and amazing SMSYG mascot, our Lourdes Maw, therefore I will be doing the run in her memory. She was an amazing advocate for the group and personified everything the group is about: generosity, humility and strength!
Please please pleeease dontate as much or as little as you can to this amazing cause and help us get to Lourdes!
