Hadarim R.F.C. is a youth Rugby Club in the Hasharon Area of Israel, aiming at promoting Rugby in Israel and building talent and Rugby community culture from the ground up.
First training session took place in a small town, Tel Mond, on Dec 5th 2015.
This year we have 7 small teams in Tel Mond for different age groups 5-18 and the only girls team in Israel.
In March 2017 we opened another centre in another town, Tzoran, with, so far, 2 other teams.
We have about 70 registered players.
This coming school year we plan to open 2-4 new centres and strengthen the 2 we already have.
Our goal is to have 10 centres in the coming years, each functioning as a Rugby Club, build a league (currently there is only handful of youth team in the country and only one of those clubs, besides Hadarim R.F.C with U8,10,12 teams. The league by the Israeli Rugby union is only for 7's and only for U14,16&18 age groups). We believe that by meeting our goals we will move Israel Rugby to the next stage, aiming at Europe level 2.
As the sport is not yet popular in the country, we have to spend heavily on promotion. Most of the promotion cost goes to pay coaches to do our volunteer work in the schools to attract kids to join our club.
Another substantial cost is supporting new centres, until each new centre will have sufficient number of kids that the fees the parents pay will support the cost of that centre. Mostly coaches salaries but also equipment and others
As there is almost zero support from Israeli Rugby union and from the government, especially for the younger age groups, we need that investment to be able to expend fast and reach a critical mass of players to allow us to support ourselves and our continoues growth.
Our head coach, Nathan Amos, decided making rugby his job, which is not a common thing in Israel, played for many years in Northern Ireland, for Rainey Old Boys R.F.C.
