My first half marathon will be a personal achievement in itself. However, while I am lucky enough to be able to fly to beautiful Luxembourg to run an historic circuit, the changing nature of an increasing global society means that there is a growing population in parts of the world who need support to achieve much more basic goals. Support my first half marathon to raise £250 or more to finish building the Angel House Cafe, and support a growing community of disadvantaged women and orphan children in India.
About the project
What is Angel House?
Angel House is a home for disadvantaged and orphaned children on the outskirts of Chennai in south India. It is part of KKSS (Karunalaya Kalaiselvi Social Welfare Society); a not-for-ptofit organisation that has programs helping children, abandoned elderly, tribal gypsy communities and destitute women.
What is the Cafe Project?
The cafe project is an income generation project that began in 2012, a dream to help KKSS generate profits on site to help with daily expenses of the children and the elderly that live there.
Why is this important?
Many residents of Angel House have been cast away by their families, orphaned at birth, and have had hope stripped away from them. A changing global society has resulted in a growing population of abandoned elderly and destitute children in Chennai, India. The population at Angel House is large, and growing every month. Building a solid structure that will generate an income will not only help cover basic items like books, pencils, shoes and small medicine, but also ensure recurring income and jobs for community residents and locals in need of help for the next 20+ years.
What will your donation help fund?
All fundraising donations will go toward fitting out the premises with tables, chairs, lighting, cooking and serving equipment and some beautiful murals. The cafe is still being built, and our goal is to see it open this year as the newest, most beautiful place in Mogappair West, in Chennai India, serving beautiful authentic Indian snacks, meals and drinks to inspire, revive, and give hope to the lives of the Angel House community.
