Help get Sami back to her Midwifery degree

In 2014 I started a 3 year Midwifery degree that I had been working towards for a very long time. I completed an Access course along with hundreds hours of voluntary work in the 2 years leading up to the application. The competition to get a place is fierce and I was lucky enough to be chosen to train in the career I love with all my heart.

During the end of my first year I started to become dizzy at work. I went and saw the GP who couldn't find anything wrong with me so I put it down to tiredness and pushed on. However by the time I was in my second year, the dizziness and headaches were so bad that it forced me to miss shifts and get behind on my hours. By Christmas 2015 things had gotten so bad that I was unable to work and was forced to take a break in my degree - something I had fought so hard not to do.

In January 2016, I finally saw a consultant that had the answer. I have seen been on an intensive course of injections to correct the problem and will be on them for the foreseeable future. Thankfully they have done the trick and with the support of my family and friends I am getting back to full health and looking forward to restarting the degree in September at the beginning of Year 2 again.

Due to having already started year 2 and having had 4 months of my NHS bursary, I will not be given this again when I restart until January 2017. This leaves me with a huge shortfall of £1700 a month for 4 months that I'll need to pay for childcare and travel expenses. Unlike most other NHS degree's at other universities, my work shifts run throughout the whole year, we do not have blocks, so I need to pay for full time childcare all year round. Having a child with Special Needs only complicates this further leaving the childcare options very limited.

This crowdfunding page has been set up to help get me back to the career I love and finish my degree, whilst being able to afford childcare for the most precious people in my life, Damien, Scarlett, Seb & Lois. Without them, I wouldn't be the midwife I am training to be today. This isn't the whole target I need to raise, but it will be a big start and by selling everything I own and don't need in the meantime, I'm hoping I can reach my target along with your support.

Thank you so much xxx
