Fundraising for my Medicine Degree

Fundraising to afford my first term tuition fees for Postgraduate Medicine at the University of Warwick.

Project aim

Fundraising to afford my first term tuition fees for Postgraduate Medicine at the University of Warwick.

About the project

I started to work towards my dream of becoming a doctor at the age 15. Unfortunately due to missing out on an A in maths by 2 marks I was unable to take my place to study Medicine at Peninsula University.  I decided to continue my studies by reading Biology at The University of York. During this time I focused on as much biomedicine as possible in order to expose myself to the field. I worked day in day out to get the best mark possible in order to apply for Medicine after completing my undergraduate degree.

I graduated from the University of York almost one year ago and straight away started studying for my UKCAT exam. After sitting this exam I applied to Postgraduate Medicine. In April I received my offer from The University of Warwick. My dream had come true!

Last September I started work as a carer for adults with severe autism. These young adults suffer from a wide range of learning difficulties and often challenging behaviour. I have embarked on multiple training courses to ensure that the care I give these young adults is of the highest quality. I work on average 45 hours a week, but often up to 70. This is on minimum wage with no overtime. In order to save as much money as physically possible I have lived at home and drastically cut back on spending.

Due to new government guidelines I am subject to pay £3,500 next year to cover my tuition fees. Although I have saved as much as I possibly can I still cannot afford both rent and my fees. I aim to work part-time for the next four years whilst studying to become a doctor. However, due to the short period of time between leaving my current job as a carer and starting my degree I am unable to pay for my first term of tuition fees.

I have decided to start this crowdfunding page to try to raise enough money to pay for my first term of tuition fees. Even £1 would help, any donation would be much appreciated.

Many thanks

Izzy
