Several years ago, just after my mother’s death my dad came to visit me in work. Whilst serving him he told me that I should make two short films based on his childhood experiences of physical and emotional violence at the hands of his father.
This was the first and only time in my life that my father has told me anything about his family or upbringing. "Family Film” is a personal documentary about the proces of us making this film together. Hopefully helping to bridge the gap in our ever-distant relationship and further understand the root of his problems with communication, family and relationships.
The documentary will be partially shot in London, and partially shot in Sam's hometown of Liverpool, so we need to raise funds to cover the travel costs.
We are also re-creating scenes from Sam's fathers childhood with professional actors.
We're looking to raise £350 which will fund our bus fares to and from Liverpool, as well as a little bit extra to pay our actors.
