Bradford on Avon Friends of Palestine are raising £3,500 to facilitate cross-cultural links with the West Bank town of Tubas in education, sports and the environment.
We are working with teachers and youth groups in the UK to develop a programme that will provide close partnerships with teachers and youth groups in Tubas. We will initiate excellent and relevant activities that extend and enhance the current curriculum and youth activities both here in Wiltshire and in Tubas. This will form a platform for on-going cross-cultural projects.
We are hosting three exceptional Palestinians to establish these links: an inspirational head teacher of a large boys school, a youth and community sports leader, and a young law student who is an expert in Dabka; a traditional Palestinian dance. All three have been selected for their shared philosophy of developing peace and unity through educational activities in their community. Bradford on Avon Friends of Palestine is a local group established in 2013 to promote dialogue and understanding between the people of West Wiltshire and the Palestinian people. To do this the group has sponsored visits by young people from Palestine to West Wiltshire, including a visit by the Hakaya Dancers and Drummers from Bethlehem in late 2013.
The Brother's Club Organisation, in Tubas, works to gather youth energies to unite in the service of the community, and instill a spirit of public service and volunteer work.
"This is the group that I had a short but amazing experience with in Tubas. The children there are absolutely wonderful. Tubas is a city of truly welcoming people. This is a well deserving organization that I wish to share after experiencing it in person."
