Free Range Dairy Network is a Community Interest Company with a social mission to promote the value of milk and dairy products from traditional, pasture-based dairy herds. People rarely see cows being turned out at springtime and we want to make a film and collect pictures to show people how happy the cows are to be turned out into the fields once more. The dairy crisis is pushing dairy farmers out of business or into large intensive dairy systems. In a recent blog by one of our members Jenni Hobbs highlighted how tough things are for dairy farmers like her and her family. What’s worrying is that the film could be the last time they get to turn out their cows and another traditional dairy farmer is lost forever.
Help us to keep cows in fields and farmers in business
Free Range Dairy Network is working to ensure farmers are paid a fair reward for their milk and to ensure cows enjoy the freedom to graze in fields for at least six months of the year. There is an urgent need to instill real value in British milk if we are to offer farmers a way forward in the ongoing crisis. We want people to understand the real value in the cows in our fields and help you make an informed choice. We are working with small, independent dairy companies and their farmers to deliver free range milk under the Pasture Promise label.
