Freedom of Mind originated from a single conversation in a coffee shop - the kind of conversation we hope to encourage you to have with your friends, colleagues and loved ones. In their first meeting, our Founder, Ella, and Managing Director, Katie, spoke about their own mental health, the stigma surrounding mental illness and how crucial it is that society adopts a more positive view of mental wellbeing.
These are the founding principles of Freedom of Mind Festival, an 11 day series of events running for the first time in 2016 in Bristol, which aims to foster a more proactive rather than reactive approach to mental health. We’re all about tackling stigma, increasing people's understanding and ensuring that you are equipped to be able to manage your own, and sometimes others, mental health.
We’re now a Community Interest Company and are aiming to make a difference all year round - not just when our festival is running.
