Free Silent Disco has been in action since October last year. It is aimed at people of all ages who want to come and dance in the daytime, outside in a lovely park, free from noise constraints. To date we have run 32 very successful silent discos, and the response from the public had been extremely positive. Most of the dance music streamed is produced by local artists, and it is the aim of Free Silent Disco to contribute to and encourage the unique and diverse culture that the city has to offer, as well as suggest an unusual form of excercise! Free Silent Disco brings people together, by encouraging total strangers to dance with each other, and has been thoroughly enjoyed both as an activity and as a comedic spectacle!
Presently we have 20 secondhand headsets, bought with my own money from a hire company who were upgrading. The headsets have seen better days, after seeing years of use (and abuse!) on the festival circuit; they're sounding a bit quiet and tinny. I'd like to offer attendees better sound quality, by spending £2000 on 60 brand new and updated headsets, because we believe that better sound equals more dancing!
