For the Grace of Who? is a play inspired by the bicentennial of Grace Darling's birth, exploring parallels with Refugee survivor stories.

by sharon-jane-facinelli-boga in Whitley Bay

For the Grace of Who? is a play with music and poetry adapted from a Newcastle playwright and inspired by the bicentennial birth of North East heroine Grace Darling and survivor stories inspired and contributed to by Refugees and Asylum seekers. The performances will be a forum to raise awareness of the current and growing Refugee crisis, draw historical parallels and celebrate the work of the RNLI. The play will be performed in and around the North East Coast including local heritage sites, Light Houses and Watch Houses and in Calais Camp for and with Refugees.

The project will include 6 workshops around the themes and issues of rescue and survival and will be in collaboration with Arts in the Camp (Calais) and local and international arts therapy providers to enable and empower creativity for healing as well as support refugee arts pratitioners and performers. Workshops will also take place around the North East in association with local refugee support organisations and will encourage members of the both the local communities and refugee community to devise, create and share experience through art and music.

Contributors will have opportunities to attend special events, book priority seating at performances and receive invitations to participate in workshops.
