Our project will transform the visitor welcome and experience at the Pen Museum through the creation of a new entrance, orientation and introductory exhibition which reveals the history of pen manufacturing and the pen trade and the people (founders, businessmen, women workers) most closely associated with its development from its foundation up until the present day.
Engaging new interpretation, inter-actives and activities will enable visitors to explore the multiple stories associated with the pen trade’s success, and to get the most out of a visit to the Pen Room where the manufacturing processes are demonstrated.
We will recruit/train new volunteers to act as guides and interpreters, to support a new programme of events and the efficient running of the museum. Through this project we will secure our place in the Jewellery Quarter, develop and increase audiences and related income and secure the long term future of the museum. The new facilities are due to open in October 2016.
