We have a beautiful 18th Century thatched pub which we are slowly rejuvenating into a place full of flavour, music and art. We have already done so much... not only restoring the building but converting redundant spaces into the new kitchen with a wood fired pizza oven, a private dining room and a beautiful oak lobby. We are now thriving as a business and going from strength to strength with the help of a super team and great support locally.
BUT.... the wheels are in motion and we want to keep them going to finish the pub! To finish our vision... We want to create a hub that offers delicious fairly priced food and drink, either local, organic or sustainable; live music with music studios; and an art gallery that can host gigs, parties or studios for artists. What’s more, our aim is to be the most sustainable pub in the UK.
It is now that we need your help to cross the finshing line and make this historical place something truly unique and beautiful.
This is really exciting... Lauren will be taking over the garage to convert it into a Retail Shop selling antique furniture, fashion, shoes, music vinyls, daily supplies, Source @ Hungerford Park meat and produce, and dried flowers. Your contribution will help to make this space a useable space that benefits the community and the customers who will travel to buy Lauren's style.
The Art Gallery
This is going to be a truly unique and wonderful space situated in the Victorian side of the building on the first floor. We're restoring the old brewery into a useable space with large brick arches, old refurbished pine, and plenty of natural light. Our aim is to create a space that is ideal for artists to work and exhibit, as well as acting as a cinema and a venue for parties up to 50 people. We will have regularly changing creatives, musicians, poets, artists using the space... what an expirence to enjoy lunch downstairs and then to pop up to the gallery afterwards and see the artists in action.
We already host monthly live music with true musicians who play original music from all different genres including Jazz, Folk, Blues, Celtic, Acoustic, Gypsy Jazz.... we want to increase this to twice a month plus festivals throughout the summer. On top of this we will eventually be transforming the garage into a music studio ready to record musicians, act as a rehersal room, and to be used for children, music therapy and anything musical (Lauren's retail shop will then relocate to the first floor of the pub). Within the pub, we want to accumulate a myriad of different instruments that will hang around the walls for anyone to play for impromptu spontaneous music sessions.
It is our passion to be truly sustainable. We already have Silver in the Catering Mark, we will be Gold as soon as Ollie's Dad's meat is confirmed Organic Certified, but we want to keep going by investing in Heat Pumps, Bore Holes and Underfloor Heating. It is so important that this industry changes its habits to reduce waste, minimalise the amount of energy wasted, and to really live in harmony with the land and it's resources. Please help us to lead the way and become the most sustainable pub in the UK.
We want to be as honest as possible, so here are the figures of what everything is going to cost in the future:

Ollie and Lauren
"What an innovative and exciting extension this would be to what has become a very important hub of the village community and beyond."
"You are both doing a great job at the Wheatsheaf, after years of neglect. We particularly like the idea of an art galley incorporated as a place to exhibit and market local artists. "
"Ollie and Lauren Hunter have demonstrated an exemplary attention to quality of detail in absolutely
everything they have done since buying The Wheatsheaf, and I am sure that this philosophy would
be maintained with their construction of a music studio."
