We have now raised enough money to make the first of our films. If we can acheive our new target, we will make two more. Because the films are so short, designed for web viewing, we are limiting each film to a single message. Although each film can stand alone, the three films would compliment each other giving the viewer a fuller picture of the issues raised.

If I were to tell you that the government no longer has accountability for delivering healthcare to the whole nation would you be surprised? I was. I only learnt 4 weeks ago about the detail of the 2012 Health & Social Care Act and was so shocked that I felt compelled to act.
The Issue in Brief:
Primary Care Trusts who had a duty to provide healthcare to the whole population within their area have been replaced by Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) who only have a duty to provide appropriate services to people who are registered with G.P.s. Some G.P's have deregistered expensive patients and some CCG's will no longer fund some former NHS procedures, e.g. hearing aids and cataract operations. The most galling thing of all, is that it will actually be more expensive. An estimated £5bn has already been diverted from clinical care to structural reorganisation. The U.K. currently spends 8% of it's GDP on healthcare compared to 18% in the U.S. One of the reasons for this is that the NHS, as was, could negotiate better deals with the pharmaceutical industry than small private enterprises. A fragmented NHS is very likely to be a more expensive NHS. I could go on but pithy film shorts would be far more effective than anything I could write here.

I am a dramatist who has spent 16 years working with both professional artists and/or community groups to interpret sites or historical events through drama. In the space of 1 week 5 people have volunteered acting, admin & sound editing support.
