Planning permission has been granted for a gas rig next to Durleston Country Park in Swanage Dorset.
The project is earmarked to start in October 2016.
Planning for this gas rig has been approved with minimal ecological survey work and no input from Dorset Wildlife Trust prior to planning approval. The process left many in the dark and much to be desired. Potential impacts to endangered and protected species including the Greater Horshoe Bat and the Great Crested Newt have not been adequately considered and government guidelines ignored.
We have already raised the funds for an independant ecological assessment and issued this to Dorset County Council to highlight what is needed on this sensitive site before any works can be considered.
In the meantime, a camp has been established to secure the site whilst the legalisties of the development are challenged.
We would like to ask for your help to maintain the camp, and carry out campaigning. Pledges here gratefully received.
Another way in which people can support is to keep an eye on the "Wish List" for food and other supplies. https://www.facebook.com/groups/ProtectOurPurbecks/
This funding will be held in a paypal account adminstered by Stuart Lane (Account name crosspartyfrackfree). Any surplus funds will be ringfenced for the purpose of protecting Dorset from new oil and gas wells.
