To operate a Therapeutic Horse Racing Yard, marginalised people can regain purpose, self esteem, see tangible results, re-enter education. Working with mentors, the idea goes further, helping participants 'bring together' CVs, receiving reference post-placement, input from holistic advisors. Ongoing support 6 months post placement.
Founder Julie Archibald recently graduated Horseracing Industry Foundation Degree. All future profits go to Rehabilitation of Addicted Prisoners Trust. We want to partner with charity Shelter.
The project is interesting in that all participants heavily involved in care and training of Thoroughbred Racehorse, as we want it to be challenging whilst keeping participants engaged.
We need to run a Pilot Study of 16 months to show social impact and the need for this venture to be able to gain further grant funding. For example, what is apparent is that re-offending remains high in the UK, something is still failing with over 50% back into the system within 1 year. Prison population as of 14th April is 85,517. Transforming Rehabilitation is not working.
This project is innovative because we are thinking outside the box.
Our mantra, everyone is good at something.
We care, we believe, we value.
