Featherweight is the story of a young birder who loses himself as he loses touch with the world around him. As he discovers the world of screens and hashtags in social media, his life begins to change. His relationships alter, and his sense of self wavers. From the natural world to the virtual world, our protagonist struggles to identify with what is real.
This project is written by a young, female screenwriter, inspired by her avid bird-watcher of a father, and her own terror in the scary effects of social media. It has been championed by a group of over eager and passionate creatives based around London.
In order to make this a reality, we need a little help from a few friends…
Funding will allow us to give this film the scale that it deserves and to do justice to the importance of the topic and the stunning locations that we are using. It will enable us to procure difficult locations, market the film, provide transport for cast and crew to the various locations and rent specialist equipment.
We have a small and very talented team and cast and are all completely convinced of Featherweight’s potential to move its audience and to make them think. We feel that we have a duty to celebrate the natural world, and to remind people, particularly the younger generations, that life extends beyond a screen. Nature is a playground and is good for the soul - we want to celebrate this.
But, we need your help…
