My name is Jas and I currently work with children to show them what the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths) can do in their everyday lives.
The project picture shows some cars some of the students built last year and the interesting one is the green one at the back which was made by a 3D printer.
The lessons I teach are all about CAD, how to print items from CAD drawings and what th to watch out for during the 3D printing process.
The schools I work with generally are in deprived areas and do not have access to 3D printers due to funding issues, so they come to me to use my printers or I will go to them to teach.
All was fine until a few weeks ago, when the printer went missing from my car, so at the moment I have no 3D printer capability.
The reason for this funding request is to be enable me to replace my stolen 3D printer and if possible obtain a second printer so that I can build projects at a faster rate.
A group of children were about to commence printing, so without the printer we looked at oursourcing the printing. We have had quotes in the region of £1200, so it makes more finanical sense to replace the printer.
We would like to continue to build exciting project with children in clubs and after school activities and with your support this blip can be overcome.
