The EseeHear are Video Display with a camera and Smart Glasses, mounted inside and on a Hatband, including a fully functioning CPU with WiFi / Bluetooth providing internet access, a virtual 80” screen, a sound system, camera, and large batteries, all carried by the hat/cap band.
Just put it on and settle down with your earbuds in and kill that long commute, catching up on your favourite show, learn a language, read a book. (the wearer can always tell the camera to go live and check your next stop).
Most of all. This product is directed for the Visual and Audible impaired, we intend that it will Enhance any existing hearing or sight.
The project is to implement the design, manufacture, and market, the EseeHear device. We need the buying power to keep cost down.
Sight: The key to EseeHear is made possible by using its own 5Mp Camera and the Autofocus incorporated into all modern cameras in a unique way, anything your sight/camera lingers on is Auto focused and automatically kept update, we take this focused output to a transparent display, you look thru the "Focused" Picture to view your background, this focused picture is near your eyes and your brain puts it all together, just like a Pilot's display.
Sound: Like all Smart devices, The EseeHear is always "listening" for your spoken commands, we take this microphone pickup and inside the audio chip, using an onboard application the sound can adjust the amplification of all the audio frequencies to provide a hearing aid that is comfortable to you, whatever the environment.
We see this product is directed For the Visual and Audible impaired, we intend that it will Enhance any existing hearing or sight.
This product all started over a year ago when I rang the bell, my Mother opened the door, as usual, she had her head tilted over to the left, it was because she could hear better with her right ear, “Yes, Hello” she said. “Hello, Mum” I replied, Her smile lit up her face, “Oh Peter” how lovely to see you”. I knew until she heard my voice she could only see a fuzzy outline. You see, my Mum is 97 year’s old, but when we get into a quiet corner, She has enough to say for herself to prove, she still has all her marbles.
Yes, She knocks the occasional thing over and tends to touch to “see”. Mum has been deaf in one ear and the other is age-related impaired, she has cataracts and is nearly blind in one eye. she lives in a wonderful sheltered accommodation, a lovely building Manager, who is always there to lend a hand, with the rest of the family living nearby, they see her most days, she accepts that at 97, she has had good use out of her body.
As I drove away, Mum and her eyesight played on my mind, I knew that the specialist opticians had said that there was nothing more they could do, what can I, as her son and an electronics engineer do?
It get's all technical lots of detail waffle now, Just pop over to the panel on the right pick the best deal for you...
The eyes have it:
Quite suddenly it popped into my mind that most Smartphone “Selfie’s” are in Focus”, CCTV Cameras, all, has autofocus, Mum, was a + 3.50 on her reading glasses and that is at ten feet, they don’t have autofocus, if they did, she might be able to read her own Birthday cards.
How to give her AUTOFOCUS.
What I was looking for was, “Electronic Enhancement” of any existing sight. it appears that our brains have been working overtime for years piecing together bits of information and painting a picture in our minds. 0ver 40% of my mother's vision was out of focus or blurred by the Cataract’s IF I could get some of that back it would be a bonus.
What about the Hearing:
In the past, I developed a pair of BlueTooth glasses that worked to a smartphone as a hearing aid, you may know that all Bluetooth devices are “Listening” to your commands, to assist, they have a network of microphones that provide a “Side Tone Circuit” these are fed to the Digital Signal Processor.
This is the important point, they can be manipulated to amplify your impaired frequency by a Google app. so the device can work as a Hearing Aid.
We need A Processor, Displays, Camera, Audio, Bluetooth, WiFi, Memory, all with an operating system (OS) and the internet, all on one device.
A very Special "Last Word" eseehear = Electronic See and Hear.
Ok I know you wouldn't be seen dead wearing these goggles, but, can, Mum get to the local shop? can she find that Birthday card for her Grandson?
With the EseeHear the wearer can ask "Be my eyes" to come online and with her camera and SEE which card she wants if she is feeling unwell get her a taxi, or walk home with her, go to the Doctor with her. Best of all the ESeeHear wearer can assist in watching favourite TV Shows again!
So this is what we had built, our Prototype:
To give you an idea of what it will look like:

Eye-D helps visually impaired be location-aware, explore and navigate to nearby places of interest, evaluate surroundings with their EseeHear camera and read printed text. Eye-D will serve as the true companion for most of your daily assistance needs.
Blind or visually impaired users can request help from a sighted volunteer, who will be notified on their phone. As soon as the first sighted user accepts the request for help, a live audio-video connection will be set up between the two parts. The sighted helper can now assist the blind or visually impaired, through the video connection from the blind or visually impaired user’s EseeHear camera.
As a sighted user, you are part of the big Be My Eyes volunteer-network, so don’t worry about leaving a blind person hanging, if you are not able to answer a request. We will simply forward the request and find the next available volunteer.
The blind or visually impaired person can need help with anything from knowing the expiry date on the milk, to make sure that their clothes match.
