My name is Emma Wilson, I'm 16 years old and I Windsurf for Great Britain. I'm currently in the Podium Potential Squad in the British Sailing Team and my goal is the 2020 Olympics and beyond!
I have been Windsurfing since I was about 6 years old. I did my first race when I was 9 and since then I have been competing regionally, nationally and internationally. My best achievement so far is becoming 2014 Youth World Champion in the Under 17 & Under 19 Category. At the moment I am competing in the Youth and Senior categorys. In November 2015 Sports Aid named me as "the One to Watch" out of over 1000 athletes they support - luckily this gave me some money to allow me to compete at more Senior events.
I competed at the 2016 Senior World Championships, finishing 25th overall and 7th Under 21 and over Christmas I competed at the 2015 ISAF Youth World Championships where I won a Silver medal for GBR.
At the moment I am trying to compete at as many Senior competitions as possible. As well as this I'm trying to afford new equipment to give me the best chance of competing at the highest level. Before September 2015 I was solely supported by my parents, a few grants and a few kind local sponsors, now I get some money from the British Sailing Team and Sports Aid but its still very very difficult to fund my campaign with the high cost of equipment and travel.
So I'm asking you guys, whoever is reading this, if you could just give any money and share this on social media sights and tell your friends about this I would be so grateful!
The money raised from this will go towards new equipment for my upcoming competitions. (2016 Hyeres World cup, Weymouth World cup, The 2016 European championships and the Under 19 Youth World championships.
