My name is Ellen Turner, and have been a professional dance artist for 6 years. For the last two years I have been touring my first solo work "Car-Door Moment" which was awarded the Turn prize in 2013. I have three sisters, all who I love very much. Grace and Lily, have followed me down the dancing path and are also professional dancers. I knew...one day, I was going to work with them- and this day has finally come!
Trudy- is a duet about love and loss. This is the first time where my sisters and I have collaborated on a piece (so its quite monumental really?!)
The work looks at emotional connections we get from someone who we love. It shows the battle we faced with Trudy's Alzheimer's, and how we dealt with it. We share our very personal journey, our memories, our love which hopefully- everyone will be able to relate to.
We have so far, been working together to fund this project solely by ourselves. With thanks to Live at Lica, who have given us in kind support, we have done 1 week R&D and 1 week devising. The duet is almost ready for our spring tour and the first performance at Turn 2014. We now, however ask for your help.
Travel costs from London are expensive. Grace and Lily can no longer afford the train fares for rehearsals, or to the performance's we have planned. We need two more days rehearsal, and I would love to pay them for their time and effort on these days. I would also love to pay them for their turn performance, as I am so proud of what they have done, and for our achievement.
Please dig deep to help us. This project means so much to us (I think this is why have invested our own time, and money on this project.) Grace, Lily and I want to thank you for all your help and support.
