Elect Kevin White as Green MP for Redditch

Funding Kevin White's Green Party campaign to be elected as the next MP for Redditch

Politics is changing...the future is Green!

It's less than 4 months until the general election! More and more people have had enough of the other main parties. They're learning about Green Party policies, and they like what they hear! There's a #GreenSurge across the country. Membership of the Green Party rose by over 120% in 2014, and continues to surge this year, with around 10,000 people joining in the last week! We now have more members than UKIP and Lib Dems! We're polling up to 10% nationally, and up to 27% amongst young people, far higher than ever before!

Greens want to end austerity and reduce inequality, renationalise the railways, provide genuinely affordable housing for all, end the threat of fracking, stop (and reverse) the privatisation of the NHS, make the minimum wage a truly living wage at £10 per hour, scrap the hugely expensive HS2, take real action against climate change, end factory farming and animal testing, introduce strong animal protection standards and stop the constant pursuit of growth, no matter what the consequences!

We plan to have a leaflet professionally designed, printed and distributed to every home in the constituency, which will cost £800. Greens don't have wealthy donors like other parties, so we rely on members and supporters to enable us to get our message out.

About Kevin

The Green Party Parliamentary Candidate in Redditch is 42 year old Kevin White. Like his parents and grandparents, he was born and bought up in Redditch and has lived here all his life. As such, he's passionate about the town but his passions don’t stop there!

Throughout his life, he's taken a very keen interest in environmental and animal related issues and in more recent years, these interests have widened to include peace, social justice, health, democracy and more. He believes it’s very important to stand up for what you believe in, to speak out against injustice, and to promote more ethical ways of living, which has resulted in his involvement in dozens of local groups, campaigns and projects over the past 17 years.

Kevin's Local Campaigns

Nine years ago, Kevin set up the original local online reuse/recycling group, Redditch Freegle, which now has over 14,000 members and saves an estimated 10 tonnes of useful stuff from landfill each month! For 7 years, Kevin organised the annual independent Redditch Green Fair in the town centre, one of the first annual green fairs in the UK!

He addressed public inquiries against plans for a Bargain Booze store next to a school in Lodge Park, against the monstrous profit-driven leisure and commercial development at the Abbey Stadium and against the insane plans for an incinerator next to a school in Astwood Bank.

He has supported the campaign against the Alex Hospital cuts, lead the protests against the councils urban tree massacre across the town and he mounted a campaign to save allotments in Lakeside.

He also collected hundreds of signatures against the closure of local Post Offices.

For over 3.5 years Kevin has been a Green Party Parish Councillor in the village of Feckenham, within the borough of Redditch.

Further affield...

On top of his campaigns & projects in Redditch, he's been actively campaigning against all forms of animal cruelty across the UK for over 17 years. He now organises regular vegan fairs & festivals around the West Midlands, including the annual West Midlands Vegan Festival, one of the biggest in the UK.

He puts the same level of passion and committment in to everything he does, and has won awards as a result! Here he receives the Veggie Achiever Award 2010 from vegetarian cookery writer Rose Elliot.

Kevin says:

"I’m very much looking forward to the General Election campaign and giving everyone in Redditch the opportunity to vote for a fair, compassionate & sustainable town and world."

He would make a fantastic MP! Please support his campaign.

Kevin would also be very grateful if you would join/follow/support his campaign via social media etc.
