Gavin Corbett has been the Green councillor for Fountainbridge-Craiglockhart in Edinburgh since 2012. Since then he has worked tirelessly for the area: on better road safety; on development which local people want; on improving parks and green spaces; on giving more people say over local budgets; and lots more.
Across the city he has championed small businesses and social enterprises, promoted the new green economy and taken a firm stand for proper investment in public services.
Gavin is standing for re-election in May 2017 and is quietly confident that he will get the backing of people in the area. But, unlike some other parties’ candidates, no Green ever gets elected coasting in on the wave of national trends. For Green councillors it's hard work locally that counts -- earning every vote, one by one.
That means getting the Green message out to people: leaflets, newsletters, stalls, posters and letters. And that costs money.
To re-elect Gavin as a Green councillor will cost £1,000. Greens don’t have millionaire backers or big business supporters. Every penny of our campaigns comes from members, supporters and local people like you.
