Can you help us make 2013 the most amazing Festival season for Edinburgh Iranian Festival?
The funding and sponsorship funds available for Art and Cultural events are more restricted because of the economic down turn. We have been fortunate to receive generous support form a number of Scottish businesses as well as Arts and Business however we are still a little short. Your donation would help us gather the additional funds we need to make Edinburgh Iranian Festival happen for another year.
The event is organised by volunteers and is affiliated to Edinburgh University Persian Society (EUPS). The festival is planned on a not-for-profit, break-even basis, and any money remaining at the end of the Festival will be donated to EUPS to be used in future events.
The first EIF took place in 2009, with 35 events that were attended by 2,500 people. There were thirteen films, music concerts, exhibitions, lectures on Iranian history and literature, and stand-up comedy shows. In addition, a number of local restaurants offered Iranian menus for the duration of the festival.
The second season of the festival was held for ten days in February 2011. There were sport events and a mini bazaar, in addition to new shows in many of the same categories that proved popular in 2009. The number of attendees was just under 3,000 people.
The third season of the festival will take place for sixteen days from 1st of February to 16th of February 2013. This season will focus more on lectures, film screenings, art exhibition and music, which were the most popular categories during the past 2 seasons.
The Edinburgh Iranian Festival is also demonstration of the generosity and support of the Iranian and Scottish community in Scotland for Iranian Art and Culture. We have over 11 volunteers who have been working tirelessly and are leading the organization of the various parts of the Festival such as the opening ceremony, the Art Exhibition, the Music event, Film screenings and the lectures as well as the traditional story telling, and delicious Persian cuisine.
We really need your help to create this community cultural festival. You can help us by making a donation so we can hit our funding target. The reason we need this money is because most of our events are free of charge for all people to attend.
You can also help us by spreading the word about this unique cultural festival in Edinburgh and come along and enjoy the beauty and warmth of Iranian culture during the cold winter month of February in Edinburgh. Do remember that all lecture, the Art exhibition and workshops are free for all people to attend, so do come along and bring your friends and family to take advantage of the Edinburgh Iranian Festival 2013.
