Help our baby dinosaur to hatch!
In summer 2017, a world-exclusive exhibition of dinosaurs is coming to Nottingham. The exhibition, which is called 'Dinosaurs of China' will see some of the most ferocious Jurassic super-predators setting foot in the city.
This unmissable event features feathered dinosaurs from China, which have never before been seen outside of Asia. It tells the story of how dinosaurs evolved into birds, and features specimens both large and small, of some of the most important and fascinating dinosaurs ever discovered, such as the Gigantoraptor, the biggest bird like dinosaur ever found.
The main exhibition, will be at the magnificent Wollaton Hall, a spectacular Elizabethan mansion in Nottingham, which you may know better as Wayne Manor from the Batman, 'Dark Knight Rises' movie, where you will be able to see almost 30 unique specimens, including the Mamenchisaurus, a dinosaur which weighed over 50 tons and was almost 35 metres long!
However, in addition to the main exhibition there will also be a smaller, FREE exhibition at The University of Nottingham's Lakeside Arts centre, which will look a little like the photo below, and this is where we need your help!
Leaving a dino-legacy for children and families
At Nottingham Lakeside Arts, we want to capitalise on this unique opportunity in order to create a dinosaur legacy for local children and families. Our outreach officer, (Diana-saurus in the video!) often runs workshops at Lakeside and also visits schools, to teach children about subjects based on exhibitions and events at Lakeside.
We want to make the most of our Dinosaurs of China exhibition at Lakeside, by commissioning a very special, unique animatronic feathered baby dinosaur. The animatronic puppet, which will be similar to the one below, (but with feathers!), will help us to bring dinosaurs to life for children visiting Lakeside, long after the exhibition has come and gone.
And this (below) is an illustration from the dino-creator of what our dinosaur might actually look like!
The most important part of our project is to inspire a generation of schoolchildren, so we will be doing a series of outreach programmes in the local community that will seek to inform, amaze and entertain.
How you can help
Our main goal: Bring the baby dinosaur to life - £4000
For this we will be able to fund the creation of a unique animatronic puppet dinosaur which will have a permanent home at the Nottingham Lakeside Arts Centre. This will also pay for training so that Diana Saurus and other Lakeside staff can teach children all about dinosaurs.
If we can raise even more than our main target we can create an even greater legacy that children and families can enjoy for years to come.
If we can raise £5000, then in addition to the animatronic baby dinosaur we will be able to create a permanent ‘dino dig’ with dinosaur bones buried in the field beside Lakeside. Children will be able to experience what it’s like to be on an archaeological dig and feel the excitement when they discover dinosaur bones for the first time!
Create your own dinosaurs: £7000
If we can raise £7000, then on top of the baby dinosaur and dino-dig, we can help children create their own dinosaurs on iPads and project them onto the wall at Lakeside.
Virtual reality experience: £12,000
Should we raise £12,000, then we can add a unique virtual reality experience at the Lakeside Dinosaurs of China exhibition, to all the other items listed above.
Any amount you can give will be gratefully received, thank you!
To help raise our target, we are offering a number of amazing rewards, offering unique dinosaur experiences for all ages. These include £5 for a special 'roar out' on Twitter; £25 for a unique dinosaur print (see pic below); £40 for a family ticket to a storytelling workshop; £50 if you want to be a VIP at the official opening night of the exhibition at Wollaton Hall; £200 for a unique birthday party and much more. Take a look at all our rewards on the right hand side of the page.
Several rewards also include a personal encounter with Lakeside Arts' very own 'Diana Saurus' (pictured above), an intreped explorer who is always keen to meet new and budding young paleontologists to join her on her next adventure.
Dianasaurus will be delivering our storytelling workshops, where she will explain how dinosaurs evolved into the modern day birds we see around us today. She will leave lasting memories and stimulate the minds of her young audience so that they become more interested in the natural world. And if we can reach our funding target we will also have the baby animatronic dinosaur joining Diana Saurus for the story telling.
These are examples of the fabulous limited edition A2 size posters which are available for just £25 each
Please look at all our rewards to find the perfect dinosaur experience for you and your family. Any amount you can donate, however small, will be greatly appreciated.
In the event that we unable to reach our £3000 target for the animatronic baby dinosaur, we will use your kind donations to enhance the exhibition at Lakeside Arts, to make it an even better interactive family experience .
If you have any questions about any of the rewards, please contact us on email@example.com
